Our world is pregnant with information. It is not an amorphous soup of atoms, but a neatly organized collection of structures, shapes, colors, and correlations. Such ordered structures are the manifestations of information, even when these chunks of physical order lack any meaning.

- César Hidalgo, “Why Information Grows”

Designers impart order to form. They marshal structures, shapes, colours, and correlations to create change. They think this is special.

Maybe it is. Function and practicality are incidental: they are not a precondition of a designed outcome.

Does The Serpent have a function? Does The Serpent embody meaning? I think He does. I will not disclose this at this time.
